Obituary for Woodie Herman Wilson, Sr.

Woodie was a great provider, dedicated and loving husband, a great father and grandfather to his two sons, and three grandchildren. To the outside world, Woodie was this intimidating giant of a man, but to his family and friends he was just a giant funny teddy-bear! To his grandchildren, he was Pawpaw and to him they we were the light of his life. He would always talk about his grandchildren, that Kennedy is every bit or her daddy, Kaleb has always been the quiet one, truly laid back like his daddy; Kenzie Rae on the other hand, inherited all her personality and demeanor from her Mimi Linda!
Laughter is the first thing you remember of him. From the moment he entered the room, he was the life of the party – always! Woodie would give the shirt off his back to anyone in needed, and as many times as it took. Kindness and generosity were synonymous with his name in every circle that he was known.
Woodie was never short on stories of any kind, be it about himself, one of his boys or an old friend, by the time he reached the end you most likely were sweating and practically in tears from laughing so hard..
“My dad was a man like no other, he nurtured me, he taught me right from wrong, he shouted at me when needed and disciplined me, but most importantly he loved me, my mom and brother unconditionally. There are not enough words that can describe just how important my dad was to me and my family, nor what a powerful influence he will continue to be!.” - Woodie Jr.
For someone who meant so much and loved by all, he knew he left behind a trail of tears and precious memories, too. We loved the sunshine in his smile and kindness in his heart, but heaven saw that he was tired which meant we had to part. Today is his special day; dear angels hear our prayer, please guard him with your gentle wings and tend him with great care. For someone so wonderful, words cannot convey how much we wish that you were once more, with us today!
