Obituary for William Riddick, Sr.

William Riddick, Sr. was born November 3, 1934, in Bronxville, New York. He was the son of the late Jeremiah and Juanita Wilson and grandson of the late George and Floria Riddick.
He was a graduate of George Washington High School in Brooklyn, New York. Immediately after high school, he joined the United States Air Force. While serving his country he met and married Arma Jean Rhodes in 1955. They are proud parents of 7 children, David Roberts (Kathy), Lester Riddick, Michael Riddick (Vicki), Audrey Dixon (Jerry), Sherry Jackson (Louis), Terry Riddick (Lisa), and William Riddick, Jr.
After his stay in the U.S. Air Force, William was employed at Perrin Officers Club. He worked under the supervision of Otis Jordan and became Head Chef. He was also employed at several restaurants in the Denison, Sherman and Oklahoma area. William was later employed at Levi Stauss and Company. While working there, he attended Grayson County College for Business Management. He retired from Levi’s as Supervisor of the Pressing and Shipping Department until the plant closed. After retirement, William went to work at the Pillsbury Company and retired from there having worked as a Truck Spotter, in Line Supply and also in the Shipping department. After retiring from there, he became a bus driver and retired from the Denison Independent School District.
He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1955. He later joined Array Olive COGIC (Coffey Memorial COGIC) where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Usher Board President and Head Deacon.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a friend to one and all and loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Arma Jean Riddick, their 7 children, David Roberts (Kathy), Lester Riddick, Michael Riddick (Vicki), Audrey Dixon (Jerry), Sherry Jackson (Louis), Terry Riddick (Lisa), and William Riddick, Jr., their 28 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; his brothers, Robert Harris and Eric Wilson (Karen); and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
