Obituary for Eddie Rogers Ervin Sr.

The Early Years
Eddie was born in Tyler, Texas a small East Texas town about 80 miles East of Dallas in a small community called Spring Creek to the Late Eddie Jerry Ervin and Laura Louise Erwin (Beal).
In 1971 Eddie was introduced to a local community girl by the name of Marian L. Richardson by her late cousin, Michael Richardson. They fell in love and were married for twenty-three years. To this union three boys were born.
Eddie had great love for his family that he grew up. He often had spoken affectionately of his mother Laura Louise and his father Eddie Jerry through the years. He especially loved his siblings, the late Sherrell Faye Beal Brooks, the late Homer Charles Ervin aka Mole, and his sister Blanche.
He also loved his many cousins, Shelia, Bug, Emmanuel, the Late Bynah Roselle, Florastine, Shirley, Rose, Evelyn Jean and many more.
Unbeknownst to Eddie, a lifepath had been laid out for him to travel away from Sugar Hill. This path was designed by the Lord.

Educational Achievements
Eddie’s educational life begin at the old Carver Elementary school in Tyler, TX, which became the Brooks Box Company in the later years. He spent his Junior High school years at A.T. Stewart. During the years of William Wayne Justice Integration Process, he spent part of High School years at
Emmett J. Scott and graduated from John Tyler High School Class of 1971 number 10 out of a class of over 700 students.
Eddie was an academician throughout his entire school age years. He procured Scholarships to Princeton and a few more noted Universities.
When he went to Junior College at TJC it was no different. He pretty much aced any test he ever took. Eddie went on to obtain his Electronics Technician degree & Certificate, which lead him to a rewarding career.

Career—Military--Personal Life Reflections
During Eddie’s early work life and career, his late brother-in-law Jesse Easter introduced him to the possibility of working in the Aerospace and thus began Eddie’s career as an Electronics Technician in the Aerospace industry, in which he worked for several years.
This is where Eddie was handpicked by a Scientist to work on the very first Space Shuttle, the Discovery as a Technician.
When Eddie signed up for the Navy and took the ASVAST test, he did extremely well on it as well. Eddie enjoyed everything about being in the Navy except the water.
In the later years of Eddie’s career, he worked in manufacturing, many thanks to the late Hardin Taylor the family friend who helped him get on at Kelly Springfield Tire Plant.
When his youngest child entered grade school Eddie along with his then wife Marian felt a calling to established a Cub Scout Group in the Spring Creek Community and obtained the help of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and Tyler Scout District Office to accomplished this achievement, he was able to establish the Cub Scout Pack Number 516 and became the Cub Master.

His Family Legacy
Leaving to cherish his memories are his Three boys, Eddie Rodgers Erwin Jr, Ryan Courtenay Ervin, and John Mackenzie Ervin, his only grandchild, LaDarius O’Keith Ervin, Sister, Blanche Ruth Easter, Uncle, Clarence Harold Ervin, many cousins—and his Caretaker of many years and Ex-wife Marian Richardson Ervin Whetsell.
