Obituary for Earnesteen Devers Anderson

Mrs. Earnesteen Devers Anderson, was born September 9, 1940, in Greenwood Louisiana, the fourth child of nine, to the parentage of Ernest Devers, Sr. and Viola Draper Devers.
Earnesteen accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Chapel Baptist Church.
During her formative years, beginning at home, she attended Public Schools and was a Graduate of Walnut Hill High School. Upon completing High School she engaged in collegiate studies at Grambling College of Louisiana, now known as Grambling State University, and was accredited with the Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
Earnesteen then became gainfully employed as a Librarian for the City of Shreveport. She would go on to work in the profession for 29 years retiring on May 31, 1999 on her Granddaughters Jasmine’s Birthday from her first and only job.
“Steen” as affectionately known married Lorenzo Anderson on August 2, 1969 and to this union two sons were born, they remained a couple for 49 years until her passing.
Certainly a woman of God she buried herself in numerous church activities, serving as an active and faithful choir member, choir president, church secretary, and a Sunday school teacher. She was also member of the Texas and Louisiana Baptist Association Mass Choir.
Other than serving in church Earnesteen thoroughly enjoyed cooking, which she received from her mother and passed on to her oldest son, alone with gardening. She was known in the neighborhood as the “Pretty Lady” on the hill with the pretty flowers.
Having run her race and completing her course, Mrs. Earnesteen Devers Anderson went home to be with the lord to rest from her labor on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Christian Highland Medical Center of Shreveport.
She leaves to be comforted by the Holy Spirit and the kinship and friendship of others her loving husband Lorenzo, her sons, Sando (Crystal) of Shreveport, LA, and Shaun (Ja Shana) of Grand Prairie, TX, granddaughters Jasmine and Jurnee. Her brothers, Charles Devers, Sr., Oscar Devers (Val) of Greenwood, LA., Leon Devers (Patsy) of Dallas, TX., MacArthur Devers (Viola) of Rockwall, TX., Ernest Devers, Jr. (Sharon) of Cedar Hill, TX. Her Sisters Laverne Flanagan (Louis) and Jeraldine Burdette of Greenwood, LA, and Josephine Brewster (Bryant) of Cedar Hill, TX. And a host of nieces and nephews that she embellished to make sure that they were like her own children.
